Rob Ward for Ward 11
Collaborative, Fiscal Responsibility
Born and Raised Calgarian
If there is one word to describe Rob, that word is certainly passionate. This born and raised Calgarian grew up in southwest Calgary where he honed his appetite for being a life-long learner – whether it’s digging into new technology, exploring a new business idea, or breaking down his golf swing, Rob is always on the hunt for finding a better way. And he plans to bring that drive to make things better to City Hall.
Rob graduated from SAIT with a diploma in Business Management, where he also studied Computer Engineering. He then moved on to the University of Lethbridge where he earned his Bachelor of Management Degree.
Leading his own IT/Marketing company, Rob currently works exclusively with local small businesses to help them find ways to use technology to make their revenue grow, and make their operations more efficient. His company offers website design/optimization; social media management and advertising; video production and editing; and system development for more efficient accounting/finance reporting.
Rob believes that really listening to the needs of each client is the path to success – and he plans on bringing that same mindset to City Council.
Today, Rob credits his collaborative, team-based mentality to the many coaches and teammates he has met through sports played in several community leagues in soccer, hockey, and golf.
Rob's Three Values
Love For The Community
Rob has lived in Calgary his entire life, including living in Haysboro for eight years before moving to Willow Park about three years ago. He currently proudly serves on the Willow Park Charity Golf Classic committee and oversees all marketing/media relations. To date, this event has raised more than $11.1 million for local charities – something that makes Rob extremely proud. Rob comes from a family that strongly believes in giving back to the community, and he wants to continue to support local causes that drive local charities and non-profit organizations.
Our Local Businesses Drive Our Community
Rob believes that our local businesses are the backbone of our society. Our local business community hires local people, supports local causes, and keeps money in our city. The generosity and support from our business community to local causes and charities is truly remarkable, even in recent tough times. He wants to ensure we support local businesses of all sizes and types to help bring Calgary back stronger than ever.
Diverse Experience and Understanding Drives Results
Rob has worked with several locally-owned businesses in a variety of industries and roles, including personal services (barbershops/hair salons), office furnishing and planning, fitness facilities, oil and gas services, automotive, and the non-profit sector. He has gained diverse experience through roles including Client Services Specialist, Financial Analyst, Business Development Analyst, Director of Marketing, and he even started his own IT/Marketing consulting company. Rob has worked on international tender bids with in-house legal departments and has proven experience with both financial and legal processes. Rob knows that every sector of our economy is critical – and that we need all businesses to drive employment, charitable giving, and tax revenue for the City of Calgary. This is how we ensure Calgarians have jobs, and have money in their pockets to further drive our great city forward.
